The CQF28 is the middle model of the CQF concrete cutter range and the one most road and municipal contractors end up buying. It takes diamond blades from 16 in to 28 in and cuts to a maximum depth of 220 mm, which is enough to open a trench line across a typical municipal road or cut out a patch repair in one pass. Power is an engine or electric motor of 7.5, 10 or 15 hp, from Greaves, VST Shakti or Crompton, and the machine weighs 160 kg.

The everyday work for this machine is utility crossings, kerb-line cutting, road patch repairs and the larger contraction joints on yards and internal roads.

Topall Impex holds the CQF28 in Delhi with blades and wear parts and supports it through Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Chennai.

CQF28 or CQF20 and CQF40

Against the 95 kg CQF20, which stops at 140 mm, the CQF28 gives up a little handiness on a floor slab in return for 80 mm more depth. If more than a quarter of your cutting is on roads rather than floors, the CQF28 is the right single machine to own. Against the CQF40, which reaches 400 mm, the CQF28 is the sensible choice unless you regularly cut thick pavement or highway slab: 40 in blades cost far more, and on a normal road you would be running them at a fraction of their depth.

Blade capacity and depth

Depth is set by handle rotation and limited by blade diameter. With a 28 in blade the CQF28 reaches 220 mm, which is where road crossings and full-depth patch edges on most municipal roads sit.

Engine or motor

Road contractors almost always take the engine version, because the work is outdoors and moves along the carriageway with no supply nearby. The motor version is for enclosed structures — basements, tunnels, plants — where exhaust cannot be vented. Choose 15 hp if the 28 in blade will spend most of its time at full depth. Both feed water to the blade from a 30 L tank; on asphalt the water also stops the blade loading up with bitumen.

What is included

Delivery, commissioning on your site and operator training covering blade selection, depth setting, water feed and straight-line cutting to a marked line. Blades and wear items are stocked in Delhi so a road programme is not held up by a worn blade.
